Politics now infects "science", art, religion, commerce, professional organizations, media. Politics is a necessary evil, the Framers knew that which is why they built America on the basis of limiting politics/government, to make room for "civil society" (Little Leagues, Elks, voluntary associations). Politics, like overhead, is necessary but it's easy to have too much of it, and when too much overhead afflicts a business, that business fails. Likewise governments. And we are well along the path of perdition and collapse because, as you point out, we are shriveling from within. The finest, most subtle, most sublime expression of the human spirit in human history, the First Amendment, is now seen as a cover for racism.
