I’ve been reading as many articles as I can, for and against Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs. I’m against them, so I’ve particularly focused on the arguments for them. I’ve also been talking to friends, particularly those who support the tariffs.
The main argument for these across-the-board tariffs seems to be that the rest of the world has been placing tariffs on American goods for so long that we want compensation for past wrongdoings. Sound familiar? That’s why I’m calling the tariffs, “Trump’s economic reparations.”
