Mark Zuckerberg owes me... twice!
Meta just announced that it is dropping its fact-checking committees, with their inherent biases, in favor of a user-driven fact-checking model. See the article Meta Ditches Fact Checkers in Favor of X's Community Notes Model. Well now Mark Zuckerberg owes me a thank-you, because I told him to implement this model back in 2020. See my article An Open Letter to Mark Zuckerberg.
Many of you know that this is the second thank-you that he owes me. The first was for being the expert witness in his litigation with the Winklevoss brothers who sued him for copying their software code (if you haven’t seen the movie The Social Network, based on this litigation, you need to see it). I used my newly developed software forensics tools to show that he had not copied their code. The case immediately settled, and a little-known company called The Facebook grew into Meta. My career also grew and my software forensics tools gained credibility, so it all worked out for both him and me. I haven’t heard from him since then. An annual Hanukkah card would be nice.
